Consulting
If you are an Architect, Interior Designer or a Contractor, Wes has 10 years of experience consulting on decorative concrete projects. When Wes is brought into the project at the beginning it helps you submit the right bid for your job and get it right. Many times Wes is called after the job has been done to fix what could have been done right from the beginning.
Acid Stain (Acid Etch) Decorative Concrete
Acid staining concrete creates a chemical reaction with the minerals naturally occurring in the concrete to create one of a kind marbleizing effects that are unmatched by any other coloring technique. The result is inspired, permanent, translucent colors that make any surface a palette for a unique artistic representation. The design options with this technique are unlimited.
Stamped Concrete
Stamped concrete can be used indoors and outdoors but is especially popular for driveways, patios, decks and porches. It is a cost effective choice because the patterns are stamped into the wet concrete when it is poured. Color is also added at this time. Stamp designs are only limited by imagination, but popular choices include Slate, Cobblestone, Brick, Rock, Roman slate, Granite and Clay Tiles.
Overlays
Overlaying consists of pouring a thin layer over existing concrete for creative surfacing. If you are looking to smarten up an already existing area this is a great choice. There are two types of overlays:
Stampable (texture). These overlays use a 1/4" to 5/8" thick layer of impressionable high performance topping material. A stampable impression is applied to this coating.
Microtop. 1/6" to 1/8" of an inch. It's a versatile option for different kinds of surfaces. From interior flooring and accents to home exteriors. It is an excellent choice for complex graphics and colors because of the ease of installation. Like other concrete options, it is durable, beautiful and cost-effective. It can be used on both vertical and horizontal surfaces.
Concrete Countertops
For homeowners and designers who have seen enough of granite, marble and synthetic countertops and want something different, concrete opens up a world of creative possibilities. Many homeowners respond to the accessibility of concrete and to the fact that such a common and familiar material can be so energizing to work with and can look and feel so beautiful. A concrete countertop can become the focus of a kitchen and unify various elements of the space.
A sculpted concrete countertop can elevate any off-the-shelf modular kitchen above its humble origins. The shape, form and texture of concrete have been underutilized. It can be shaped to create sculpture, ground to reveal aggregate and invested with other materials to give it life. It is as versatile to building as cotton is to clothing—it’s all in the way you weave it. |
